The goal of Cooler Concord is to accelerate progress toward Concord’s Climate Action Plan. The Actions on this site are designed to address the Climate Emergency both individually and collectively, and to include something for everyone.
The Cooler Concord website is designed to capture the climate actions taken in our community and, where possible, to quantify the carbon savings from them. The Cooler Concord Climate Challenge is fundamentally about working together to speed our progress on emissions reductions.
Using Cooler Concord creates momentum for climate action in the community, and gives the Town quantitative data on town-wide progress towards reducing GHGs and guidance for future efforts.
NOTE: If you’re not quite ready to sign up — no worries! You can still see all the actions, events, testimonials, and collective impact. Nothing is hidden from visitors to the site.
Cooler Concord started in 2017 as a program to help residents take advantage of energy conservation opportunities. By doing so we can save money and reduce harmful CO2 emissions. Many of the ideas behind Cooler Concord come from the book Cooler Smarter: Practical Steps for Low Carbon Living published by the Union of Concerned Scientists in 2012.
Cooler Concord is now a volunteer-based community group that continues to help residents and businesses take sustainable action through programs and events and the community web portal. We appreciate your visiting the website, and hope you will share any comments or suggestions about the site or related information with us through e-mail.
